Our Callings in the World
From 2009 to 2014, I was engaged in research for a Lilly Endowment-funded project called "Christians' Callings in the World." I was a member of the CTU team, one of five teams from diverse schools of theology and ministry and seminaries in the US. Our task: to try to develop pedagogies we professors could teach our students to help them explore their own baptismal callings. The hope is that our graduates will, in turn, use these methods to help lay folk reflect on the connection between their own baptism and their everyday callings. To this end, I have introduced students to the potential for communal art-making, such as photography and digital storytelling, that invites participants to reflect on their baptismal callings.
